Three steps to your first session. You do all three in the desktop app.

Every session needs your own proxy. Driftstack does not supply one. Your plan decides which kinds work: the trial needs a SOCKS5 proxy, and paid plans can also use a VPN file (OpenVPN or WireGuard).

    Install the desktop app

    Free for macOS, Windows and Linux. A Mac needs macOS 12 or later. On the download page, pick the .dmg for a Mac, the -setup.exe for Windows, or the .AppImage or .deb for Linux. Open the app, press Get started, then Next, then Sign in with browser.

    Download the desktop app Press Sign in with browser, then confirm the code in your browser. You don't need to copy a key.

    On first launch your computer may warn that the app is unsigned. That's expected. If your Mac will not open it, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway. On Windows, choose More info, then Run anyway.

    Add your SOCKS5 proxy

    A SOCKS5 proxy is a server your session connects through, so its address is the one websites see. Every session runs through one of yours.

    Use a SOCKS5 proxy from any provider. It needs a public address, and if it asks for a sign-in, a username and password (an IP allowlist does not work). In the app, open Proxies, press Add a proxy and paste your provider's line into Quick paste, as host:port:user:pass or user:pass@host:port. Type a Label, then press Add proxy.

    Launch your profile

    Open Profiles and press New profile. Under Proxy, choose the proxy you added, then press Create profile. Press Launch on the profile's card. The app's Get started guide walks you through each step.
